Of American Institute of Chemical Engineers Rose Ventimiglia, a management associate in Con Edison’s Growth
Opportunities for Leadership Development (GOLD) program, was appointed
chairperson of the Tappan Zee Section of the American Institute of Chemical
Engineers (AIChE) by AIChE board members, effective June 2004.
“I hope to
increase section enrollment, provide insight into what young chemical engineers
need and want of the section, and most of all, to continue the good work the
section has done in regard to working with the community, Manhattan College, and
other technical and professional societies,” said Ms. Ventimiglia, who holds a
master’s degree in chemical engineering. She joined the company in June 2003
and is currently in her second rotational assignment in Substation Operations
Planning.
Founded in 1908,
the AIChE, with more than 50,000 members, is a professional association that
provides leadership in advancing the chemical engineering profession. The Tappan
Zee Section is based in the lower Hudson Valley of New York State and maintains
ties to other area societies, including the AIChE sections in neighboring areas,
the American Chemical Society’s Westchester chapter, and the Hudson Valley
Council of Technical Societies. The section also works closely with Manhattan
College in Riverdale, offering chemical engineering students many opportunities
to network with industry professionals.
